Queen Marys University of London – Centre for Epigenetics Launch Conference

Distinguish 5-methylcytosine (5mC) and 5-hydroxymethylcytosine (5hmC) together with all 4 canonical bases to measure multiple modes of biology from a single 5ng DNA sample, in a single experiment, with high accuracy. Identify novel multimodal biomarkers to gain transformative insights into current and future states of disease.

About the event

QMUL boasts one of the largest communities of epigenetics researchers in the world. This hub consists of a core group of 16 group leaders, focusing primarily on epigenetics research, and 20 associate research groups with clinical and non-clinical interests.

The core group covers research themes such as: Mechanistic Basis of Human Disease, Comparative, Evolutionary, and Developmental Epigenetics, Computational and Population Epigenomics and Repetitive and Non-Coding Elements. Last year, with generous support from Barts Charity, we formalised scientists working on epigenetics at our institution into a Centre for Epigenetics at QMUL , which we are now launching officially.

To mark the occasion, we are organising a one-day conference at QMUL inviting external speakers at different career stages. The scientific programme encompasses both oral and poster presentations by invited speakers and selected abstract submissions. This meeting offers an ideal platform for young researchers – at QMUL, UK and internationally – to establish connections in an informal environment, engage with experts in the field, and receive valuable feedback.
